Bertrandt donates foam attachments to local fire department in Tappenbeck

Fire protection has high priority at the company

, 29. August 2023 – The engineering service provider has presented the fire department at its site in Tappenbeck with two foam attachments for hollow stream nozzles. These will enable the fire service to extinguish a fire more quickly and more efficiently. Other companies in the region will also benefit from this donation.

To ensure that a fire on the company premises can be quickly extinguished in an emergency, Bertrandt has donated two foam attachments for hollow stream nozzles used by the local fire department in Tappenbeck. Foaming attachments such as these are used to produce a blanket of foam in the event of a fire. The foam has the effect of removing heat from the fire and then smothering the flames. Especially when work is being carried out on electrically powered vehicles, foam systems are an essential aid in getting a fire under control and extinguishing it more quickly.

Work on electric vehicles in particular represents a higher risk of fire compared to vehicles with other types of powertrain. As the engineering service provider carries out intensive testing on such vehicles for its customers, fire protection is a major issue. For that reason, the company has been working closely together with the local fire department in Tappenbeck for some years now. Inspections and training sessions are regularly held on the site. “Safety is extremely important to us in every respect. We therefore see it as our duty to support the fire department and provide it with the appropriate equipment in order to minimize the risk of fire on our premises. Of course, these foam attachments can also be used in an emergency to deal with fires outside Bertrandt, for example at other companies,” said Torsten Schatterny, Head of Department Powertrain Solutions at Bertrandt in Tappenbeck.

This is not the first time that the company has supported local fire services by providing equipment. Last year, Bertrandt presented the fire department in Lehre near its site in Flechtorf with, among other things, two electric extinguishing lances for putting out battery fires.
