After the 2022/2023 fiscal year started in October 2022 under tense global economic conditions, global macroeconomic forecasts have recently been revised slightly upwards again. According to the ifo Institute, the German auto industry is also in a better position than in late summer 2022 and the order situation in the sector is stabilizing. "An improved industry situation is an important prerequisite for shaping long-term challenges in the automotive industry around the megatrends of digitalization, autonomous driving, connectivity and electrification," says Markus Ruf, member of the Management Board of Bertrandt AG.
The trend of increased demand for engineering services, rising project awards and improved capacity utilization in Germany and abroad following the pandemic is also reflected at Bertrandt in the current reporting period. Total output in the first quarter of 2022/2023 rose significantly by 20.3 percent year on year to EUR 280.469 million (previous year: EUR 233.167 million). EBIT amounted to EUR 11.496 million in the reporting period (previous year: EUR 9.912 million). Earnings after income taxes amounted to EUR 6.243 million after three months in the current fiscal year (previous year: EUR 4.492 million). The recruiting measures in the Bertrandt Group were successful as well. The number of employees increased noticeably: As of December 31, 2022, the Group employed 13,416 people (previous year: 12,108).
As long as the pandemic does not intensify again, the general economic conditions do not deteriorate, energy prices do not continue to rise, our customers sustainably invest in research and development of new technologies, development services continue to be outsourced to service providers and qualified personnel are available, Bertrandt expects a positive trend in fiscal 2022/2023. The engineering service provider continues to expect total revenues to grow by between EUR 60 million and EUR 100 million, an EBIT margin (EBIT in relation to total revenues) of between 4.1 percent and seven percent, capital expenditure of between EUR 25 million and EUR 40 million and positive cash flow from operating activities.
