Ehningen, 01. September 2021 – Bertrandt is expanding its previous testing concepts and methods in the field of validation and will be presenting these solutions in a virtual format at IAA Mobility from 7 to 10 September. With the Bertrandt Powertrain Solution Center and its comprehensive scenario-based testing expertise, the company is offering possibilities for testing future powertrains and ADAS/AD functions. In addition, the development specialist is unveiling new opportunities offered by over-the-air services and intelligent product solutions.

Modern vehicles are seeing an increase in software-based functions. This has an impact on the complexity of validation processes, particularly in the case of ADAS/AD functions. In order to meet the growing demand for testing, Bertrandt developed a scenario-based testing methodology from the cloud to the road at an early stage. The aim is to transfer most of the testing of ADAS/AD functions to virtual test locations in the laboratory or in the cloud. The consistency of the tools and test scenarios used ensures that the virtual and physical testing platforms are themselves consistent and that only the mandatory release-relevant tests need to be performed on the test track and on the road. That makes the whole development process faster and more efficient for customers.

The Bertrandt Powertrain Solution Center (BPSC) can simulate the entire world in one place. As a designated Technical Service and the prospect of accreditation according to ISO 17025, Bertrandt can offer neutral solutions, independent of manufacturers, for the validation, certification, and homologation of the powertrain solutions of the future. The two BPSC sites in Wolfsburg and Munich simulate the climatic conditions in cold and hot regions by controlling the climate in the test chambers from -25 °C to +45 °C. The laboratories are equipped with six all-wheel climatic chassis dynamometers and two altitude chambers that can simulate altitudes of up to 5,000 m. Sunlight simulation, SHED chambers for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, and an extensive infrastructure complete the range of equipment, ensuring that all future powertrain concepts can be validated in accordance with the relevant requirements of worldwide regulations.

“With the expansion of our services in the field of validation, we are responding to more complex requirements by offering attractive solutions for our customers. The application of efficient, state-of-the-art testing methods and concepts as well as our many years of experience mean that we are experts when it comes to validating new functions or technologies,” says Hans-Gerd Claus, Member of the Board of Bertrandt AG.

In addition, Bertrandt supports its customers with over-the-air services and smart production solutions. Modern cloud technologies are used to make the latest software available over-the-air. This makes it possible to provide vehicles with new functions and updates regardless of their location and known service intervals. Compared to the conventional distribution of software, this results in shorter time-to-market for new features and is an important factor particularly regarding innovation in ADAS/AD functions.

To enable them to design the intelligent factory of tomorrow, planning experts transfer the production planning processes into a digital process chain. This is then used to optimize and validate the results, if necessary by integrating existing production data. Bertrandt is therefore able to offer all manufacturing plants holistic and smart solutions for their production processes, from consulting and the development of the optimum solutions and technologies to final implementation.

Bertrandt’s technical experts will be available to answer your questions in a virtual format at the IAA Mobility Summit from 7 to 10 September.
