Bertrandt is the solution partner for these and other questions in the field of environmental simulation. Testing methods such as climate change tests, constant climates or radiation tests are applied to examine the effect of global climatic conditions on the durability and lifetime of products and materials.

At six sites with a total of more than 180 climate chambers, Bertrandt is one of Europe’s largest providers of these services, with over 25 years of experience and know-how.

Every test is performed in accordance with all of the required and common test standards (e.g. DIN Standards) and in accordance with the testing requirements of many different industries. With our TISAX certification by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) and accreditation according to ISO 17025:2019 by DAkkS (Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle – German Accreditation Body), we ensure that we always meet the highest international standards and guarantee the protection of sensitive and confidential data. This applies not only to processes, but also to products and prototypes.

  • Due to globalisation, modern products are used in all markets of the world and in the most varied climate regions. Therefore, the requirements placed on these products are becoming increasingly complex with regard to their lifetime, functionality and performance.
  • State-of-the-art powertrain concepts with high-voltage batteries or hydrogen tanks present special challenges in the field of validation. At the same time, there is a constant need to further develop the safety concepts for testing on site or in a climatic chamber in order to rule out any risk of injury. We are continuously developing new safety and evaluation concepts, also for our customers, to enable us to test any kind of product.

  • From the tropics to the Arctic
    Our climate chambers can generate constant climates between -80°C and +300°C with a relative humidity between 10 – 95 % at any time. The high-temperature oven can reach temperatures of up to 1100°C. Any climate region of the world can be simulated through various climate change profiles, allowing products to be tested for global use.
  • Equator
    A ten-year ageing cycle can be completed within just 30 days. In addition to climatic stress tests, we also perform infrared and/or UV radiation tests. This means, for example, that a vehicle (car/commercial vehicle/construction machine) can age by 10 years in a very short time, enabling us to evaluate the complex interaction between sunlight and different climatic conditions.
  • On the high seas
    Our salt spray chambers can simulate offshore conditions at any time and can test a product’s seaworthiness as well as its ability to withstand all kinds of weather conditions. This kind of product testing in realistic conditions is used not only for shipping, but also in the field of renewable energy in the form of wind turbines and in the automotive industry.
  • From -80°C to 220°C in 10 seconds
    Our climatic shock chambers can generate a temperature difference (Delta t) of up to 300°C in just 10 seconds. The ability to withstand such temperature differences is required, for example, in products and materials used in the field of aerospace.
  • Outlook: higher and higher
    From August 2020, we will also have two attitude chambers that can simulate different air pressure situations and attitudes. They can simulate altitudes of up to 4,200 m, making it possible to validate products for use in the Alps, for example.
