Last year, Bertrandt handed over around 5,000 used IT and mobile devices to afb social & green IT. All data contained on the devices was securely erased using certified processes. Through the continued use and professional refurbishment of the equipment, approximately four million liters of water were saved, and six jobs for people with disabilities were created. A particularly positive result: 82 percent of the devices were successfully remarketed after data erasure, hardware testing, repairs, upgrades, and cleaning. Hardware that could no longer be used was recycled in a resource‑efficient manner.

The partnership between Bertrandt and afb social & green IT has been in place since 2011. Since then, both companies have jointly extended the lifecycle of IT products, reduced electronic waste, and promoted circular economy principles as well as social inclusion. Both partners intend to further expand their cooperation in the future.
Bertrandt pursues ambitious sustainability targets: by 2030, the company aims to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 15 percent, and by 2039 it is striving to achieve full CO₂ neutrality. In addition, the Compliance Management System is being continuously enhanced. With this renewed recognition by afb social & green IT, Bertrandt reinforces its role as a pioneer in the responsible use of IT resources—helping protect the environment and climate while advancing social responsibility.
