Diversification into other industries, including the rail sector, is firmly anchored in Bertrandt’s 2027 corporate strategy. Together with its partner Dahlrail, Bertrandt has achieved a significant milestone: entering the rail industry in Scandinavia, a region with considerable market volume for engineering services. The two companies have jointly secured their first contract with Norske Tog and have already begun executing the project. Norske Tog is a state-owned company that provides rolling stock for the Norwegian rail network.
Through their collaboration, Dahlrail and Bertrandt become a full-service provider in the market, from development to assembly, enabling them to offer customers fast and effective solutions. As part of obsolescence management, Bertrandt is responsible for re-engineering and redesigning hardware and software components for auxiliary converters in rail vehicles. This includes services such as conducting a detailed analysis and measurement of the existing circuit board, creating a new circuit board layout based on the collected measurements, manufacturing new circuit boards, and integrating them into the existing train system. This process allows trains to return to service more quickly and prevents long downtimes in the depot.
“Bertrandt can contribute its extensive expertise in re-engineering and the development of new components for this project, thus creating innovative solutions for the rail industry. The Norwegian market offers us great potential for future projects, as we are taking on a pioneering role in engineering here. Our partnership with Dahlrail demonstrates that together we have made the right strategic decisions to act as a reliable partner in development and assembly,” says Jens Böhle, Key Industry Manager Rail at Bertrandt.
This contract is a first for both partners in Scandinavia and covers an impressive range of services from the development phase to the assembly of components. In addition to the services specified for this project, Bertrandt also supports its customers in this sector with the development of new components and software, as well as troubleshooting and fault-finding in defective components. Customers benefit from tailor-made solutions and a partnership focused on a sustainable future through technological progress. In particular, Bertrandt is able to further expand its range of services.
With more than 100 years of experience in the railway sector, Dahlrail brings hands-on expertise aimed at ensuring the guaranteed operation of vehicle equipment. Dahlrail continues to be committed to providing its customers and partners with exceptional rail services and solutions and is an integral part of the rail ECO System.
