Ehningen, 26. May 2020 – The German Design Council has awarded HARRI, Bertrandt’s autonomous driving, connected and electric innovation platform, with the Innovation Award 2020. The award honors companies that have demonstrated outstanding innovative performances. HARRI is developed in-house, in a cross functional effort that involves all Bertrandt competence centers.

With its technology platform HARRI Bertrandt successfully combines any aspect of the current megatrends such as digitisation, autonomous driving, connectivity and electro mobility in one vehicle. The group uses the innovation platform to demonstrate its technical expertise along the entire value chain for current and future mobility concepts. "HARRI was developed completely in-house on the basis of a domain/system architecture with all the associated interfaces and functions. Thus, we are demonstrating our expertise in areas such as vehicle bodywork, design, charging and charging infrastructure, software, networking and backend, HMI, high-voltage batteries and validation. In addition to the classic automotive sector, our solutions can also be used by new players in the mobility market, for example in telecommunications, consumer electronics, charging infrastructure or IT," says Peter Schiekofer, Head of Advanced Engineering and Autonomous Driving at Bertrandt.

After HARRI celebrated its successful world premiere at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in January this year, winning the German Innovation Award 2020 is another important milestone. "We are delighted about this award. It proves that we, as a group, are active in the relevant and innovative topics of the future," says Michael Lücke, member of the Bertrandt AG Board of Management, responsible for Sales.

The German Innovation Award honors products and solutions across all industries that differ primarily in user-centricity and added value compared to previous solutions. It makes innovative achievements visible to a broad public and supports successful positioning in the market. Companies are nominated that have attracted the attention of the initiator, the German Design Council, due to their innovative achievements. The jury is formed by independent, interdisciplinary experts from industry, science, institutions and the financial sector. The evaluation is based on criteria such as level of innovation, user benefit and economic efficiency.

Founded by the German Bundestag and donated by the German industry, the German Design Council is an independent and internationally active institution that promotes the competitiveness of companies and presents the award once a year. Bertrandt was nominated for the award in February 2020 and was now able to accept the award. More information on the HARRI innovation platform can be found at: https://www.bertrandt.com/harri/.
