Subsidiary development

1992		Opening of the Rüsselsheim facility. A four-strong design team works on projects directly on-site with the client.
1993		The engineering consultancy Bertrandt Ingenieurbüro GmbH is established in Rüsselsheim as a result of the positive collaboration with the main client, Opel. The range of services offered is continually expanded during the following years.
1995		First FEM project (technical computation). First application of the Unigraphics CAD system.
1996		Entry into motor sport with the STW/DTM development.
1997		Collaboration extends into the wider General Motors (GM) world with the first project work for Saab.
1998		Major bodyshell project for the successor to the Vectra. First complete interior for the Opel Combo.
1999		Bertrandt in Rüsselsheim has 100 employees. The test laboratory in Ginsheim-Gustavsburg is opened, offering test and measurement services and climatic simulations.
2000		The Styling and DMU (verification) department is opened. This step means that the Rüsselsheim subsidiary is now able to offer the complete development process chain. The foundation stone of the Bertrandt Engineering Centre in Ginsheim-Gustavsburg is laid; the conditions are created for implementing complete vehicle projects. Employee headcount breaks through the 200 barrier.
2001		Relocation to the Bertrandt Engineering Centre in Ginsheim-Gustavsburg. Here it is possible to realize a complete project centre for entire vehicle development projects. Completion of the development process chain through derivative project management similar to the Opel GM processes
2002		Supporting a joint Opel and FIAT project with a team for body and chassis.
2003		Conversion of complete Opel Zafira CNG Package.
2004		Conversion of an aggregate car concept for a vehicle in the compact segment.
2005		Conversion of an aggregate car concept till SOP (interior, car body, exterior, electrical package and supplier coordination)
2006		Upgrading in tolerance management.
2007		Upgrading in electronics - conversion of a validation project.

Core competencies
As a service available to clients, Bertrandt in Rüsselsheim has created the complete development process chain from styling through concept, design and development to the production engineering. At this location, Bertrandt also possesses know-how in the use of tools for cost, project and interface management. In addition, the project centre is able to handle complete vehicle development projects. In the new building, facilities for optimising the development process and reducing the number of interfaces are available to suppliers.
