Successful collaboration between Bertrandt and PSA
|
Bertrandt Bièvres has been working closely with the vehicle body department at the technical centre operated by PSA Peugeot Citroën in Vélizy for a number of years. Following projects such as the development of the running gear for the Berlingo, the body of the Xsara (saloon, coupé and estate) and the front section of the Picasso, the C5 project was the first time we had been commissioned to carry out a complete project involving the running gear, front section and body for the saloon and estate car.

| Based on initial data such as the system of coordinates for the body, the shape plan and the definition of the door fold, the work also included the project/process aspect. The packaging dimensions and blanks for the components were worked out, with particular emphasis on the complex analysis of the nodal points of the structure. This process had to take account of the body requirements such as deep-drawing feasibility and metal fittings on the one hand, and assembly of adjacent components such as the fuel pipe, door hinges, rear lights, airbag cover, tyres, interior trim and sliding roof on the other. |

The scuttle reinforcement, the side panels and floor as well as the integration of the airbag system into the body are further examples of our development work. In parallel with this, more than 200 detailed plans for the components were prepared. The cooperation with PSA encompassed the entire development process through to series production. In the final phase, besides making a number of detail modifications, we also transferred a large amount of bodywork data from CADDS to CATIA.
