Development partner expands its business activities along the automobile value added chain

Bertrandt AG will be presenting itself at the International Motor Show (IAA) 2005 in Frankfurt as the farsighted partner for the automotive and supply industry. Under the heading "Foresight", the Group will demonstrate in Hall 3.1, Stand A03 its evolution over the last three decades up to the present day, and will make the link to its future direction with the topical themes of "pedestrian safety", "supporting services" and "financial engineering".

Expanding services
Through the targeted expansion of its business services along the automobile value added chain, development partner Bertrandt is aiming for future growth. "We want to exploit market potentials over and above our existing core business and expand our activities into adjoining business areas", said Dietmar Bichler, Chairman of the Board in the run-up to the IAA 2005 in Frankfurt. "With our integrated development know-how, we recognise and understand the car industry’s requirements. We also want to actively introduce our knowledge to new business areas so that we can take the pressure off the customer." Bichler cited "quality management", "financial engineering" and "supporting services" as examples. The latter will also be offered from the Altenburg site that opened in January.

Competence Center organisation successful
Bichler also confirmed the success of the Competence Center organisation introduced during the previous year. The Competence Center "Electrics/Electronics", "Testing & Trials", "Supporting Services", "Powertrain" and "Aviation" are now organised on a company-wide basis. This and the Group’s specialist workforce mean that Bertrandt AG is well-positioned for the future. As an example, Bertrandt reported an increase in turnover of 15 per cent in "Electrics/Electronics" in the first nine months of the current fiscal year. Since 1st October 2004, a total of 215 new jobs have been created in the Competence Centers listed.
