"Focus in Silver” award for Bertrandt AG

Design Center Stuttgart honours highest design quality As part of the International Design Award Baden-Württemberg 2004, Bertrandt AG was pre-sented with the “Focus in Silver” award for the design and de-velopment of the Binz hearse H211/2. The competition focussed on the interaction between human beings and the product, thus evaluating the user-friendliness of modern products. Fusion of design and technology The vehicle was developed especially for the German-speaking re-gion by Bertrandt Technikum GmbH in Ehningen on behalf of Binz GmbH & Co KG. The design was based on the shape of a swan. A bright interior space represents openness and transparency. New materials for the interior ideally complement the overall appearance. Furthermore, the vehicle provides a high level of safety, for example with its crash-safe partition. "It was our aim to develop a complex vehicle from a design point of view, combined with a high degree of functionality and practicality”, said Project Leader Ingo Schulz at yesterday’s award ceremony in Stuttgart. “The search for the optimum design solutions was given the highest priority – both in practical application and with regard to cultural and emotional demands,” said Bertrandt’s designer Volker Sieber. The award-winning products will be on show at the Haus der Wirtschaft in Stuttgart until December 12, 2004.
