Bertrandt demonstrates breadth of expertise from initial sketch to finished model

Bertrandt AG will be presenting its integrated design process at the Euromold 2004: from the initial sketch through the virtual development to the finished model. Bertrandt's engineers will be at stand A08 in Hall 9.2 to provide further insights into the company's sophisticated combination of design and technology expertise.

Design: searching for optimal solutions
Design is a key component because a car is an emotional commodity. This emotionality covers aspects ranging from the practical use to the more ephemeral search for individuality, image, status and personality. Bertrandt's design team uses the modelled example of a hearse manufactured by Binz, the Lorch-based company, to illustrate from a constructional point of view how a complex vehicle with a highly func-tional utility is developed as well as how the interface between man and machine is honed to perfection.

Model-making: turning ideas into hardware
Modellers turn the ideas of the designers and developers into reality with a variety of models for a wide range of potential uses. Bertrandt is able to offer an integrated service from virtual development to proto-type production through the skilful combination of design, engineering and model-building expertise. By means of a laser-sintered model of the smart crossblade it is evident how a model created in the early stages of development can offer a preview of what the subsequent component, module or vehicle will exactly look like.
